Mill Creek CC was on the verge of bankruptcy around 2013. Some members stepped up and put in some capital but I believe the club is still struggling. Make sure you check out the club's finances before you join.

I played the course several times when it was first developed in the 1970s. Nice layout, but short. Mill Creek's original (and long time) head professional Tom Sursely is now the Director of Golf at Mauna Lani on the Big island of Hawaii He is a really nice guy and would probably be willing to give you his opinion of the club if you called him.

Did you end up joining? I live 5 minutes from the course and have thought about joining, but want an update on winter conditions, as it's been pretty unplayable in the winter months in years past.

Was invited out to play with a friend the other day and had a blast. Looks like they've made some great steps from what I saw and was told...

The greens were unbelievable, rolling at a 11.6 for the day. There's a couple dry spots in some fairways from the summer they've had. They've had a very involved sanding program going on in the recent past, and the drainage is supposedly really good right now. And I wouldn't consider the couse necessarily "short"... unless it has been renovated since the poster above played in the 70's.... you can play the course at over 6,500 yards if you want to torture yourself.

Big Sky 59: just curious -- how would you know that the greens were running 11.6? Do you carry a Stimpmeter with you or did the Pro Shop claim that's what they were running?

There's a big information board by the first tee. Has the cart path rules for the day, winter vs. summer rules reminder, and green speed. Greens crew updates daily stimp reading each morning before play.

Edit: It's not actually on the first tee but was over by the putting green/starting area.

Wanted to see if you ever joined or not? They have a crazy special going on right now for Young Professional memberships (under 39) and will probably pull the trigger.. Was curious about the process though.

Couldn’t ask for a better Head Pro, the club and membership is growing and the atmosphere is fantastic. I haven’t played in 3-4 months and I’m assuming it’s soggy just like anywhere else. The course and especially greens are typically in fantastic condition. I’m not someone who cares what the stimp is, but they can get them incredibly fast for tournaments/everyday play in summer.

They hired a new super who has done an incredible job since he was hired...

You won’t regret joining especially under the young professional deal. Feel free to reach out in a PM for anymore information.

I ended up joining in late Jan. Gotten in a couple of rounds so far, but trying to play at least once a week, hopefully more once the weather gets better.
