Dundonald and Western Gailes are seperated by a railway line, you could easily play 36 in one day and still take in Prestwick!

 

Good hotel and good location. Also if you guys are feeling fit don't discount Royal Troon's "wee course". Portland is a great track in its own right. A really enjoyable walk.

While you're talking about courses in that area, how is Glasgow Gailes? I'll be stopping in Glasgow for a bit on the way to North Berwick and St. Andrews and was looking for a budget friendly round that would be a good introduction to links golf.

Glasgow Gailes is nice although contrary to the name Glasgow Gailes is in Irvine, not Glasgow itself.

 

I'm biased and would definitely say Dundonald is a better links that Glasgow Gailes, others may disagree. Give me dates and I'll see if I can host you at Dundonald at members guest rates.
