How does 905S compare to 983E?

How does the 905S compare to the 983E in terms of launch angle, spin, overall impression? The S's I've seen in person seem to have a closed face while the 983E is square. Can anyone confirm this?

Since noone has touched this one, I'll give it a shot.

First off, I loved my E and have been searching for it's replacement for about a year. It was long, straight, and just about perfect.

Right now, I'm working with a 905S w/ V2. It's certainly pretty long..unfortunately I moved and I'm playing different courses now than I was back with the E.

I can definitely say it's more forgiving than the E and IMO, the v2 has a much tighter dispersion than the NV that was in my E.

You can't really look to tour use either, there wasn't much love out there for the E. From what I can tell there's even less for the S...

I'd like to hear what some others have to say on this too.

I went from the 975D to the 905S, skipping the 983 iteration, but I did toy with the E at a couple Demo days... I'll say that the 905 is definitely more forgiving and longer. I can't comment on spin rates/LAs because I can't remember what shafts were in the 983s...

Putt4doh, mind me asking your swing speed for using the V2 X? I've been thinking about giving it a whirl, not sure if S or X is the right one for me...

But the question is, is that dipersion a result of the clubhead or the shaft? I'll be shifting from a Prolite to a Blue if I switch from the E to the S.

To answer you question, I try to keep my SS around 110. I just get way to erratic when it get's faster, besides I hit it just as far at 110 as I do at 120...my spin rate gets silly.

It's probably a combinatin of both, but a little more due to the head. If you check the torque specs on each shaft, you'll find that their about identical. But I can say for sure that my dispersion is MUCH tighter with the S. If you ever hit a squirrely shot with the E, it went NO WHERE. When I hit an off center shot with S, I still get 250+.

If you're debating, I'd say give the S a shot. I don't think you'll loose any distance and there's a good chance you'll find it much more forgiving than the E. Besides, you can pick one up on Ebay for less than $200 now.
