First Flight The Standard Irons

I’m trying to ID when these clubs were made. The shaft is a True Temper Dynamic. The registration number on the set (2-PW) is 211212. Any information would be helpful.

Late 70's early 80's. I got a set in 1981 for HS graduation. They made subtle changes to the "T" in the The and the "S" in Standard for different years but that was about all the difference I knew of during those years. The "Palmer" branded Standards were a few dollars more and considered more of the higher end item. The toes on the Palmers were a bit more rounded and they had a bit more offset if I remember correctly. To me the First Flights were the best irons out there. Around 84 or 85 they started playing around with the graphics, wider soles, etc. and they never looked as good again in my opinion.

First Flight were owned by Pro Group, the same company that owned Palmer Golf. The Palmer Standards and First Flight Standards were produced concurrently.

 

The model you have pictured are the "companion" to the 78-84 Palmer Standards. I don't know for sure if the First Flights were produced along the exact same timeline, off top of my head.

 

In 1985 the Palmer Standards were changed to a different look.
