I bought a house this past summer pretty close to Jefferson Lakeside so I’ve contemplated joining but it’s a little more pricey than I’d expect for an older, more casual club.

I’ve played Belmont several times and noticed a nice private club just around the corner. Don’t recall the name as I’m in the DC area.

Thats Jefferson Lakeside. I've been looking recently. A buddy of mine mentioned the Dominion Club. I've never played the course but I assumed (maybe wrongfully) that it was some how related to its neighbor course Hunting Hawk. There is apparently a new membership that entices friends to join together for a discount on initiation fee/monthly fee for both parties. I want to play the course before making that type of decision though. Any one here played it recently?

I played a nice little private course in Manakin-Sabot as the guest of a member once. ;)

Again? I thought they had a partnership with TPC. I guess golf biz isn’t great, I thought it was a decent track and also a decent place for people to host events.

 

No longer in Richmond, but if you can afford it and like pure golf plus walking my vote is Kinloch.

 

If you want social and family then Richmond country club. Many members belong to kinloch belong to Richmond country club or other for the regular country club experience.

 

There were a few other more friendly clubs to get into but not sure the quality of golf or social aspects.

I have been bouncing around public courses for a while. I live in the city, so Willow Oaks makes the most sense logistically, but I just can't fall in love with the course. Wish Lakeside's practice area was just a little easier to get to. Having to fight 95 at rush hour would be a pain.

Is Jefferson Lakeside a pretty nice course? My dad was able to play it a few weeks back because one of his old classmates is a member there. I'm thinking about playing the VSGA one day event there on July 16. Any Donald Ross course is intriguing to me.

Lakeside is very "basic" but a really fun track. It's not exclusive, they don't have a lavish clubhouse, and the practice facility is sort of offsite. So nobody really gets excited about it here in Richmond. But I always have a nice time when I play there. Ross greens are always tricky and being in position is important. I think it's only maybe 6,200 yards from the tips.

I was a member at Dominion for a year and enjoyed it, but was a little rough on the course and more focused on family. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about courses in the area; I'm always glad to talk golf!

Hermitage great club for golfers and families not a bad deal.

 

Kinloch used to have to be a member of another club first.

 

CCV - best course but $75k initiation

 

Heard Federal Club has a good membership deal these days.

 

Foundry is great track to but pretty much Golf only club.

Interested in willow oaks or Salisbury. I am an avid golfer and play all year round every Saturday. Any input on how easy it is to get a consistent group in either of these clubs?
