Titleist reshaft question

906F4, steel to graphite
If i order a Titleist 906F4 with a steel shaft, can the steel shaft be pulled and the head reshafted with a Fuji Fit-ON Pro95x 1-time pull? The Pro95 is a .335 tip if i'm not mistaken and was in a TM head, untipped. Anyone have any suggestions or concerns before i embark on this little project? Thanks in advance folks.

if i don't say anything wrong i think that fairway would steel shafted are lighter in head that the graphite one in order to keep the same swingweight...

so with your pro 95 the swinghweight won't be high....

but i am not a clubmaker

hope i am not wrong

i forgot to say that both of your shaft have 0.335 tip diameter so it is ok for that

it can be done but there are concerns about type of insertion (full bore or blind) and having the shaft play true to flex (and consequently finished length). pay attention to swing weight as already mentioned.

your shaft is only .335 if it came out of a TM TP club (unless it was shimmed in a non-TP club).

I pulled a DG steel out of a 980F and 904F. Both shafts were very hard pulls, even with a shaft extractor, not sure why.

I used both butane and heat gun. I had some burn marks on both heads. Good luck.

Might want to try and buy the setup you need and not try this one unless you area pretty good clubmaker (which I'm not).

  • 1 month later...

if my pro95x was originally cut to play at 43" in a TM Vsteel, .335 tip, will i be able to play it at 43" in my Titleist 906F4 if i swapped the shafts? If not, what is the insertion depth and what would i be looking at for a final playing length if the shaft is not tipped or cut? anyone have any ideas...

thanks ya'll,

Hope this helps because I did this to my 906F2 3 wood and pulled the TT DG S300 and put in my buddies NV 75 x flex from his driver and tipped it 1-1/4" and my swingweight came out at D3 at 42-3/4" I just put lead tape around the shaft above the ferrule and at the bottom of the grip just to make it a little heavier. You don't notice the lead tape, at least I don't.
