Stand/Hybrid Bag Help

So a couple months ago I bought a PING Hoofer to replace my torn up Ogio Vision stand bag and did not get along with it at all. The zippers didnt function properly and the strap broke after two rounds.

 

I have done some research and seen in person the hybrid stand bags (cart/stand combo) which I like the idea of since I ride almost always but dont like the look of most cart bags.

 

I was leaning towards Vessel but after reading another thread the leather seems to wear on the Player 2.0 bag from cart straps. So thats out, my three choices are:

 

- Titleist Hybrid 14 Stand Bag

- Taylormade Flextech Crossover Stand Bag

- Taylormade Flextech Stand Bag (I know its not a hybrid)

 

I like the idea of a 14 way for the sole purpose of reducing club chatter and making the bag a little more organized. Both the Titleist Hybrid 14 and the Flextech Crossover have four full length dividers to reduce club tangle which is nice. All three bags aesthetically I like the look of very much.

 

Want to know your thoughts from people who have tried them or have the bags on your thoughts. Thanks guys!

Have you looked at the Titleist Hybrid 5?

I have but unfortunately I wanted something with a bigger top or same size as my current Ogio (10.5" front to back/8" side to side) the Hybrid 5 is 9.5" front to back and 9" side to side. But will be happy to test it as a suggestion if youve heard good things or have one

I have one. I’m not saying it’s better than your other choices, but I mainly ride and wanted a stand bag and it seemed to fit the bill nicely. Front/pocket side of the bag opening is cut lower like a cart bag so you can arrange clubs in a typical cart bag fashion.

Sweet I will definitely give it a test. I will be going to my local shop this weekend to have a look. Any issue with club tangling or getting clubs in and out?

I won’t say there’s never any tangling, but it’s not enough to bother me and I have midsize grips. I previously had an Ogio Cart bag and thought the tangling was actually worse.

Good to know. thank you for your insight. I also play midsize and dont want the tangling to be an issue. I had a 2019 Hoofer and when the legs were out and even when they the bag was upright in the cart they were a pain to get in and out of

I never looked at the Hybrid 14, as I didn’t want another bag with 14 dividers. Is it otherwise the same bag as the Hybrid 5?

It seems so. All have the same 4 full length dividers, etc. I just got new clubs and want to try and reduce the club chatter as much as possible so thought I would give the 14 a shot or look at least in both the TM and Titleist offerings

So I went to my local Roger Dunn here in California and they had the Titleist Hybrid 14, Titleist Hybrid 5, TM Flextech and TM Flextech Crossover.

 

- Titleist Hybrid 14 - **Pros:** Bag was really well put together, Love the materials they used on the bag and the mix of glossy material vs matte made the bag look premium. Lots of storage and the stand legs looked/felt premium. **Cons:** Did not have a small front pocket for tees/balls, etc (not the end of the world), The top opening to the bag has a support bar that wraps around the bag and my clubs constantly were being stuck on it pulling it in and out of the bag.

- Titleist Hybrid 5 - **Pros:** Pretty much the same bag as the 14 way but with a smaller top opening and 5 dividers, very well made bag. **Cons:** Clubs were too crowded and had some but not a lot of club tangle when the bag was upright and extended with the legs out. Also no front pocket for tees, etc.

- TM Flextech Stand Bag: **Pros: **Great looking bag, Very well made with great materials. **Cons: **Club tangle was an issue, the bag does have full length dividers but for 14 clubs it was somewhat tedious to pull the clubs in and out and found the grips to get entangled with my putter and woods grips no matter the configuration.

- TM Flextech Crossover: **Pros:** Very good looking bag, Nice assortment of pockets and storage. Very sleek looking while being sturdy enough to be placed in a cart. Front pocket available for tees/balls/rangefinder. Very large cooled section for ice, drinks etc. Stand legs worked really well. Top opening to the bag was flush with the rest of the bag and no tangle with clubs whatsoever (use midsize grips). Padding on the straps felt great even though I dont want with the bag. Zipper functionality is top notch on this bag. Pass through slot on the bag is nice as well. Both Titleist bags also had this feature. The base of the bag seemed a bit more sturdy than the Titleist offerings. **Cons: **Can't think of one.

 

I ended up finding out that Roger Dunn price matches TGW.com. TGW.com was offering a 20% any of these four bags. Ended up walking out with the TM Flextech Crossover for $183.99 before tax (Originally $229.99).

 

Going to get it out on the course next week but so far it fits the bill for everything I need and is a really sharp looking bag.
