That is why this obsession you seem to have with cold weather effecting scores doesn't really matter because it is something that effects every player on the course equally, just like heat. You don't need to worry about the conditions and where you play, as you stated above, if you can simply play golf. If the cold weather affects the scores by 3 strokes it is effecting every one the same. The AGA, PGA, USGA, and R&A don't have scoring handicaps based on weather because it is an equal determinant for everyone. Also, sorry but in tournament golf you are playing against the course AND your opponents. If I have a 3 stroke lead standing on the last hole you better believe I am playing that hole differently than if I was down a stroke.

True, which personally I have always found troubling, but at the same time they do 75% of your low scores so a tournament here and there with higher scores is not going to kill your ranking. As well, the weather is only going to account for small number of strokes so I don't see it bottoming out your scores.

Which leaves it up to each person to decide how much they want to factor this into the decision of entering tournaments. I can speak from my own experience that in PA and this area, playing tournaments this time of year is not worth it for us. But everyone runs their own race.

Something I learned recently when it comes to Junior Golf your rankings with JGS or Golfweek or any other ranking out there are somewhat important unless you want to do qualifiers all the time. If you want to climb the rankings your score needs to drop relative to diff score for the tournament you play. Do too many bad weather events and those scores will drag on your ranking. The way they tweaked the rankings this year score matters more than even size of field. If your playing a qualifier scores don't matter that much and you can take much more risk.

It's also hard to separate cold from the other factors that come with it. When it is getting cold out, the days are also shorter. Combine that with a 7 hour school day and homework (for those who go to a traditional school) and practice time becomes more limited. Combine that with the cold and fall/winter conditions and that is what makes tournaments so less appealing.
