Ping Black Nick vs. Vokey SM

Has anyone compared the Ping tour wedges to the Vokey SM in terms of spin? I've always liked the heavier feel of the Vokey's but the new Ping's set up very nice and Wrx offers a variety of grinds/shafts. Just not sure if the SM is marketing or if it does really spin more. Thanks.

I went from the Ping Tour Wedges 56 and 60 to the Vokey SM 56 and 60. The Vokey's spin way more, I felt they had to much spin and they also destroyed my Pro V1s, the balls cover looked like they had fisch scales. My Vokeys were well worn in as well, 90+ rounds and they still destroyed the ball. I'm back to the Pings, which I feel spin the perfect amount.

Thanks for the feedback. I did try a friend's SM at the range and after hitting 4 balls and noticed how much they chew balls - even range balls. I took it over to chip with it and they spin a ton but my brand new Nike Plat's didn't look so new. I liked how much they spin the ball but I think it's a little too much for me. I went ahead and ordered the Ping's because of all the options - finish, shafts, grinds, swingweights, etc...

Good choice I would say. In my experience I have found the Spin Milled to spin excessively. I can't hit a pitch shot without it stopping up on me. I, like you, would have opted for the Ping Tour. It's a great wedge that looks the part and has a nice solid feel. Just out of interest what finish did you opt for?

I have used the Spin Milled's, the Ping Tour Black Nickels and the Taylor TP wedge.

I went with a 54* TP wedge, and a 58* Ping Tour BN.

The TP spins a ton, and doesn't chew up balls. I also have a 54* Ping Tour BN that I like as well. I'm a bit of a wedge ho right now.

The Ping Tour's are great as well. They spin quite a bit (not as aggressive as the TP's, but quite a bit nonetheless) and I have a heel grind which is out of sight. I can open it up a bit on sand shots and really like the versatility.

I like both the Ping's and the TP over the Spin Milled's for a variety of reasons, but # 1 being feel. I always felt the Spin Milled's just didn't feel that great. Maybe it was just the shaft, but I just didn't like it.

Anyways... good luck. The Ping's are awesome wedges...
