Atlanta Country Clubs

Looking to join somewhere in the Atlanta area (ideally North Atlanta or somewhere in the perimeter) for my family. I am in my early 30s and my wife is in her late 20s and we have one child. I am mainly focused on golf but looking for other aspects of the club that they can enjoy as well. I am not well connected in the Atlanta area so wondering what my options are in terms of memberships and if feasible to get in without having a strong network. Initiation fee and dues isnt a huge issue in terms of budget but not looking to do something really crazy. Also, do clubs generally offer installment plans for memberships? And if for some reason I were to move in the first couple years due to work, would I have to pay the balance?

Clubs I have reached out to so far: Atlanta Athletic Club, Dunwoody CC, Atlanta Country Club. Any other ideas would be much appreciated!

There is a TON in the Southeast section of the forum on this topic. Ultimately, you will want to live near where you join. Even post-COVID, I'd expect traffic to go back to being bad, so you will want to keep that in consideration.

I'd recommend starting there. There have been threads in the last 12-18 months and I'd imagine a lot of the info in there is still relatively current. Those are three that would skew higher relative to some of the other options out there. Again, I'd start with where you live and then look at the clubs in that area and work your way out from there.

So find out where you are living first. Then find a club close to there, or close to your office. YOU CANNOT PICK A CLUB WITHOUT KNOWING WHERE YOU ARE LIVING IN ATLANTA, OR YOU PICK CLOSE TO YOUR OFFICE.

There are tons of private clubs in Atlanta, some that you won't sniff at your age unless your family are already members or you are a nationally ranked amateur.

There are clubs that are mostly golf clubs, and there are clubs that are mainly country clubs with a little golf. There are quite a few in between. Many of these have waiting lists, many do not.

Indian Hills Country Club might be a good option for you. Initiation is lower and has a great pool set up for kids.

Also check out Rivermont Golf Club.  Excellent course (challenging but fair) with great greens and very reasonable membership fees.  Just North of the Atlanta Perimeter in Johns Creek.  Very low initiation.
