Have you studied Jimmy Ballard's [i]How to Perfect Your Golf Swing[/i] or John Schlee's [i]Maximum Golf[/i]? Both advocate methods which, IMO, would accommodate your ~60 degree limitation.

After reading the new January Golf Digest article by Jim McLean I did some googleing on Dr. Robert J. Neal of Golf BioDyanics Inc. who assisted with Jim's research. I found this article written by Dr. Neal that goes along the same lines as Dr. Mann's scapula problem. I just can't get enough of this 3-D stuff...I want one of those toys...please Santa :russian_roulette:

First, I think the captions of the two illustrations must be reversed: the [b]SECOND[/b] sequence shows the hands disappearing behind the head.

Second, doesn't this article suggest that JeffMann's limited scapula range could actually be an [b]advantage[/b] (if he could find a way not to collapse his left arm)?

BTW, what do you think of the NERF ball-between-the forearms drill I posted in the other thread?

I use one all the time .... I asked Slice a few days ago about the same thing and he says he goes the "Nerf" ball route himself. I went more commercial though :russian_roulette:

Don't know if it's an advantage, but I did post the other day that if he kept his right hand in the exact same position at the top and had more scapula movement rearward, his left arm would be [b]more[/b] bent, not less. Think we're on the same page. Interesting that article talks about what Slicefixer is always preaching about the arms not running off at the end of the backswing.

As a high school swimmer, I did tons of upper body stretching exercises. At one time, I could have my arms at shoulder height pulled behind me so far (with hands thumbs up) that they would cross over at the elbows! I found a distinct [b]disadvantage[/b] in having this much flexibility of the upper body when I took up golf. My swing is much "tighter" now that I'm less flexible. I think this same thing can be seen in the swings of some great players over the years as well (shortening arm swings, more in synch). Flexibility and conditioning for golf for [b]some[/b] people (I'll include myself) is overrated.

I gotta' add ONE thing to this debate, MOST people who I've seen who have a "lack of flexibility" in their left arm, don't........they simply have a BICEP that is a helluva' LOT stronger than their TRICEP and/or they have NO idea how to "rotate their left forearm/arm in the backswing".......as we've debated the forearm deal a bunch of times I'll talk about the LEFT ARM itself......most simply don't have a tricep that can COMPLIMENT their bicep.........in other words no tricep to counteract the biceps tendency to want to "curl"........I had a guy in Las Cruces NM literally KNOCK me out.....cold.......BIG body builder type.......had HUGE biceps.......ignored the triceps apparantly........I was standing behind and to his left side and showing him how to "wind up"........so he "wound up" and his left arm collapesed like a cheap card table......W H A M.......this guy didn't have a "flexibility problem" he had a WORKOUT problem..........heavy weights....."short reps"......concentrating on his biceps to the detriment of his tricep.......etc.........
