It seems that I cant find the previous thread with the same title (tried searching) so I will start another one for us Jersey folks! 

 

I'll start us off with a mini rant about Galloping Hill in Union County. Not about the course as it is in wonderful condition right now (except hole 12...). Can people please learn to FIX BALL MARKS on the greens?!?!? Yes, we complain about it all the time but I saw more un-repaired ball marks yesterday than I can remember on any course in recent years! Not just little dimples either, meteor craters and huge scrapes from balls coming it at high speed! I fixed 5+ marks per hole while others putted in my group. While I expect less than perfect etiquette on a county course I was disappointed because the course was in such great shape. The green were still great but would have been even better if people had just a little decency......

I think it has to do with COVID?.  Seriously though, I have seen the same thing at many other courses lately.  Here in NJ and even when I played a couple of rounds down in MD with a buddy a couple of weeks back.  So easy to take 20 seconds and fix to keep the greens in good shape, yet not many people do it.  I'm like you fixing several per hole.  A while back one county gave out ball repair tools for free with a round.  They can't cost more than 50 cents for cheap ones in bulk, and it makes the course so much nicer.  Everybody had one, and getting one sort of reinforced your memory to fix them,

A tee works great as well and we all have those!

It's not just a public course problem. I play at a nicer private place in NJ with great greens and fix several marks per hole every time I play, small pitch marks and craters alike. Really frustrating. People are just lazy and full of themselves....

Agreed.... Lazy, or worse, they really just don’t care. For me, fixing my own mark or others is part of putting routine. Slows me down, makes sure I’m looking at and reading the green before making my putt.
