found a driver on the golf course. How do you deal with this?

Since you mentioned this it got me thinking. 

 

A few yrs ago our foursome played a round. I usually clean my clubs right when I get home but not always. I came home and put my clubs away without cleaning them after this round.

 

I didn't play the next week when my buddies went out. Talking to the one guy after the round (the guy I rode with my last time out ) about how did it go when you guys went out and played. He mentions he lost his Ping 5 iron, he didn't find it, and no one turned it in. He said he couldn't remember using it but noticed it was missing. I mentioned the great 5iron shot he made the last time I played with him and he says crap that's the last time I used the club. I must have lost it on the other course.

 

I talked to him later on and he said he called that course and no one had turned it in. 

 

The following week I'm cleaning my clubs before heading out to play our round and here is his 5 iron in my bag. He must have put it in my bag by mistake when we had rode together.

This just reminded me of the only other time I think I lost a club.

 

Followed the above scenario, except it also involved packing the golf bag in a travel cover and getting on an Int'l flight!

 

Played TPC Kuala Lumpur a few back (nice course has hosted both PGA & LPGA events.

Its custom in Asia for people to always have the rain cover on clubs. Because you pull up to the course, they take your clubs away, they appear on your cart with your caddy...at the end of the round clubs again "disappear" until you vote to drive away, then the bag is there with the rain cover on.

Was my last round of the trip...got back to hotel, no reason to clean clubs as I knew the caddy had done it. So pack them in the travel cover, flyback home and probably 3-4 days after before I open the bag. My Titleist DCI 8 iron is missing! 

Basically only 3 options - it was "lifted" by either someone at TPC-KL, some airport luggage handler, or someone at TSA (I had the paper inside that my clubs had been "inspected "). I did email the course just to check but was 100% sure the club didn't get left out on the course...the caddies are diligent about the clubs.

I didn't file a airline or TSA report as I could not be 100% sure the club was in the bag when I checked it in.

Weird that it was just the 8 iron...guess I'll never know.
