Putting w. Metronome....good idea or complete sham?

76BMP is just not enough information. Is it start to impact 2 beats, is it 3 beats start to impact? I feel it is not and that why musicians are questioning 76BMP. 76 start to impact is rushed and accelerated and three beats to impact feel to slow decelerated and over-controlled.
To me it feels right if I use 76BMP start upswing to start downswing. That feels cool just pendulum no big accel no big decel. Would like to put this on the table for evaluation.

Also no one states why it is this BPM most pros are using. Is it possible that is the bpm where upswingspeed corresponds best to downswingspeed again at 76 start upswing to start downswing?

Also I thought do I want to hear the metronome? Nahh, I want to feel it. I downloaded Haptic that is a vibration metronome for the iphone in the pocket but the bpm can not be fixated so I fear it will be changed. Maybe there is a better one.

76bpm is average Tour putting tempo - from start of backswing to impact. “Tick” as the club starts moving, and “Tock” at impact. They’re moving the putter faster than most ams (same with full swings). 

 

Just listen to the metronome at that speed and swing the putter back and forth matching it as it passes over where the ball would be. Then practice starting from address. It will probably feel pretty fast to you - especially on long putts where you keep the tempo but lengthen the stroke. 

 

The nice thing about the extra speed is that your stroke can/will be shorter for a given putt distance. Less time to think, less chance for the clubhead to wander offline.
