Kitada X Slighter

So I pulled the Stability Tour from my Olsen Legacy 345 (its in the BST btw) and was looking through my putter cabinet. My Slighter X Kitada collaboration (by me 🙂 ) has been sitting there for over 2 years without play. With the Stability Tour in hand, my immediate thought was they will be a great match, by aesthetics at least, given the color scheme.

Kitada is a very very under-rated and very good putter maker from Japan. Apart from SUS 303 which is what mine is made of, he also has carbon heads as well as SM490A heads which have a very good feel as far as metal choice goes. Kitada’s heads however, do not match how they putt looks wise. Aesthetics is not his forte. I guess given that he OEMs heads for other brands, he’s more concerned with providing a solid base for others to work on and he does that excellently. You see what I mean with his “Beetle” logo on the heel of the face.

So maybe 8 years back or more, I decided to send it to Tom Slighter and asked him to add on a muscle car theme and to add his (well known from his Rife days) horizontal face mill in the putting zone. He’s also added 2 tungsten sole weights to take this to a hefty 369 grams, much heavier than I would like actually.

So out of this collaboration, “Formula Slighter” is borne. The putter has many Slighter branding points but I chose to keep Kitada’s Circle K logo which stays on the heel of the face.

I’m not a heavy head guy and its of course not for everyone but couldn’t resist this custom project. Have a good Sunday all.

Very nice. You got the high toe as well ( can't recall the model number). Any SM490As?

I've seen a few of the high toes on auction but have resisted due to the head weight. I'm more comfortable with 350 grams now and Kitadas tend to be on the 360 gram end.

Great Kitada collection. You should try to add one with his Diamond Galaxy DLC finish.
