Pro V1 Star?? Anyone use it?

I bought some Pro V1 stars. They feel great! Just wondering if anyone on any of the tours use them?

i believe this was the ball titleist put out to complement the prov1 before the prov1x

The pro v1 star is now the Pro v1. It was a harder ball than the original pro v1

They did have them for one season, the your guys never liked them i don't believe, the tend to create more of a knuckleball effect, they are long of the driver with decent spin, like an X only with the knuckleball. I think i still have a few dozen around. Nothing wrong with the ball though.

I think that they were supposed to be x's but the pro's found that they had more spin than the normal ProV1's.

True, it was a harder ball than the ProV1 of that time and the current V1 is closer to the PV1 Star, but the Star ball had multiple cores like the ProV1 X of today. Today's Pro V1 still is one single core, then a mantle and the cover.

I liked that ball, but you might as well use the current ProV1 ball. Besides, the PV1 Star ball is at least 3 years old now.... and discontinued!

Still have a few Pro VI *s kicking around loose in my bag and in their boxes (in the garage) - enough to keep me going for quite a while anyway. Liked this ball in comparison to the original Pro VI, better into the wind and slightly less spin than the original. The new version of the Pro VI has superceded it (for me) in competition play, but still use the * in bounce games quite a lot. The * is still a good ball and I don't think they deteriorate that much in performance as they become older.

 

Never been a great fan of the Pro VIX, actually preferred the * to that newer variant. As a comparison, I find the Callaway HX Tour holds its line off the tee even better than the Pro VI in the wind, but still can't match it for 'drop and stop' into the greens - the old Callaway Rule 35 Red was as good as anything I've ever played for all round performance, but they're long gone unless you find the odd good one hiding in the rough.

 

Anyway, to each their own choice of ball (just like clubs).

There was also a ProV Diamond that never came out to retail, high spin

I played the * for a few rounds when they came out. I don't know what it was about that ball but I loved it when I played it. Unfourtunatly I played it back when I didn't have a job and I didn't have any money either. So I only played it if I was lucky enough to find one.
