Beginner looking for a golfer

Started playing 6 months ago and am loving it! I have a couple questions though as I get serious about a new driver.

 

I haven't hit with these clubs yet, but I am looking at the Nike SasQuatch SUMO 5000, Nike SasQuatch SUMO2 5900, TaylorMade R7 460cc and the TaylorMade Burner.

 

The TaylorMade R7 has moveable weights, so my question is do they really allow you to change the trajectory of the ball? If true, do you essentially lock in a trajectory and spin if you buy say a Burner or SUMO since they do not have moveable weights?

 

Also, how do I know what loft and shaft to buy? Is there a machine or fitting I can do in person at a pro shop?

Adjustable weights change the center of gravity of the clubhead, which affects trajectory (lower the weight, higher the ball flight), and will affect whether if the ball has more or less hook or slice spin than if the weight was in the center.

 

You can also change the trajectory of the club by the shaft that's installed. You can also chagne the trajectory of the club by setting up to the ball slightly different.

 

IMO, adjustable weights are a gimmick. Since they change the CG, you basically will learn to hit the ball off the center of the clubface. If the weight is on the heel, the sweet spot moves toward the heel. Well, the highest COR is not on the heel, it's in the center of the face.

 

I saw get a neutral driver with the proper loft, and learn to swing properly. Remember, your irons and FW woods don't have movable weights. So if you have your driver set up for a draw bias and you learn to hit it straight, the same swing would fade or slice the ball with all your other clubs.

 

If you've been playing only 6 months, you may want to get something around a 12 degree driver. They're much easier to hit than a lower lofted club.
