Hi all,

 

Just returning to the game after a 8 year break - Took up cycling and became a Father - but back now and trying to get competitive again on a club level..

 

Most of these are new to the bag, heck, i've not even hit the i230's on the course yet...

Solid bag and nice clear photos.  How do you like the Rogue HL?  I am looking to put one in the bag this year.  Moved away from the 3W a few years back and went strictly with a 5W.  Now that I am hitting it better, I thought a 4W or HL might be a nice compromise.

3HL is good but I only picked it up towards the end of September so I've had minimal course time with it - just need to build the confidence as it's brilliant at the range and just need to move that to the course..

After a little further testing, I think the Tensei White in the Apex UW is a little stout for me and my swing. Will keep it in the bag, but going to try and demo some alternatives over the Spring

UW sold pretty quickly and handed over. Have ordered the same again with Tensei Blue 65g to try and bring the SW down a little and launch up..

 

Should be 10 days or so..

21° UW hasn't arrived yet...

 

G430 Hybrid fitting booked for next Thursday. Be interesting to compare the Ping Tour against the Hzrdus Smoke Red...

21° UW won't be arriving, club has been discontinued according to Callaway..

 

Back to the drawing board, thinking of going 19° & 22° G430 Hybrid and playing around with the lofts to get the desired gapping right. I have a fitting booked on Thursday...

G430 fitting went well, ended up with 

 

19° 3 Hybrid / Hzrdus Smoke Red 6.0

22° 4 Hybrid / Hzrdus Smoke Red 6.0

 

Picked up today and managed a very quick range session

 

3 Hybrid

Average 140 ball speed / 215 carry / 230 total / circa 85ft peak height

 

4 Hybrid

133 ball speed / 190 carry / 205 total / circa 95ft peak height

 

Not 100% sure how accurate the TopTracer range was/is.

Both clubs are great, really impressed with the numbers and trajectory of the 3...

Interesting outcome! Those look great. I have a G430 3H and love it so far. How’d the HZRDUS compare to other hybrid shafts you tried? Was the 7 wood in the mix at all, and if so, why’d it lose out?

Thanks! The Hzrdus is a bit heavier than other shafts I have / have used in the past bit produced the best numbers overall.

Have tried the Ping Tour and Tensei Orange for the 3&4 previously which were good but the Hzrdus won out overall.

 

Had demo'd a 7 wood previously but I'm better and more confident with a hybrid against a wood - I think my actions suits them better.

4H is going well..

Few months into the new set up now and it's all going very well indeed.

 

3H and 4H G430s are just brilliant, can't praise them enough tbh. 4H is my 190 carry club, 3H is 205 carry (still wet ground at the moment). The 4H has saved me multiple strokes this season so far.

 

The irons are sublime and all the good press and rave reviews are correct.

 

I've even sorted my putting out (alignment issues caused my dominant left eye and not using any aid to line up the putts) - now using Callaway Triple Track with great success.

Final addition to the bag for 2023

 

Ping Glide 4

Couple of rounds in and the signs are good, full shot is around 85yards but it's perfect for the little hooded pitch shots.

Trying to fix some alignment issues with the putter so giving a Versa 12 DB a try.

 

The shorter alignment bar helps to line up with the ball line and early signs are good. No doubt the ball rolls well off the insert...

Awesome setup!! Love the irons and hybrids! I replaced my longer irons for hybrids and once I got over the ego component, it has been a huge help on longer par 3's and 4's!! Hit em straight!

Thanks, no ego here! The 22° H4 is a real weapon into long par 3's

Superstroke ss2r to replace the Odyssey pistol grip.

 

Much nicer in the hand and should prevent missing left which I'm liable to do with thin grips

Really good start with the White Hot and a Putting lesson with my pro.

 

2 rounds in and the numbers are good (SG v 5HC)

One small change 

 

ShotScope Pro LX laser replaced with a Bushnell V6 Shift. Far better laser, much quicker to use.

Tsr2 5 wood to replace the G430 3H

First round with the TSR 5 wood and it was good, very good.

 

Highlight was 215 to a back pin, high draw to 10ft. Feel of the TSR is lovely, proper thud when hit well. Also good off the tee and easy to flight up/down.

Finishing the season with a all-time low index of 4.3. Really started to find some form late season.

 

Happy with the set now, irons are absolutely immense, driver and 3HL are solid. Short game has really stepped on this year (both putting and chipping)

I moved to a 2 ball putter which helped.  I sometimes have trouble putting from middle of the stance and feel like I need to move putters forward or back to see the line. I never considered eye dominance being a possible factor. 

I realized it was not super common when my wife and I had a photography company and noticed most photographers use their right eye. 

Love the setup. It’s just a matter of time before you add a 7 wood too 😎. Don’t fight it.

Interestingly, a few coaches told me that 2 ball putters made the eye dominance issue worse but YMMV as everyone is different.

 

Moving to a putter with a shorter alignment aid on the top line has certainly helped and my putting has really improved - I'd still like to hole more putts but doesn't everyone..

 

7 wood...? Maybe. The G430 4h is pretty solid so it's safe for now..Winter testing for 23/24 will be drivers. Driving is one of my strongest suits so it'll be interesting if I can push it any further...
