Anyone generous enough?

Recommended Posts

I don't like doing this because it isn't in my nature, but you never know if you don't ask.

I'm getting transferred to Texas next month, and I am wanting to get on some private courses here in San Diego/SoCal prior to my leaving. If you, or someone you know, is willing to host me as a guest at a/your/they're club I would really appreciate it.

I grew up playing a private course in Oregon, and was a member for a couple of years at San Diego Country Club; so I have a pretty good understanding of the country club way in case that's any deterrent to you.

Thanks in advance all!

Wish I could help you dude, but you going to Ft. Hood?

If so, "enjoy" Killeen.

My brother eventually moved down to Round Rock. Lots of great golf in the Austin area, from what I hear.

I'm trying to help you - but also having some fun.   I take out "blind guests" as favors or simply by asking for perhaps 20 years.

Here are the other things you need to tell your prospective host (and perhaps get more offers):

You will not be an a-hole

Not intentionally embarrass the host.

Pay your own fees/expenses/tips

You will follow the host's lead regarding any interactions with the club or its staff or its members

Understand that you are a guest - regardless of what you think you know from anywhere else.

I had numerous bad experiences - but garnering the assurances above from new "blind guests" solves a lot of problems before they happen.  Good luck getting invites; and good luck in Texas.

Going to Fort Worth and the reserve F-18 unit there. Regardless looking forward to it

Thanks for the info. I'm a firm believer in common sense dictates, and all of those items TO ME are common sense for being a guest at any private establishment. I understand the reluctance from those who enjoy the private golf life inviting "blind-guests", due to society and "golfers" of today, which is why before I invited anyone to SDCC when I was a member there we played a public course somewhere first.

Side note, I read "blind-guests", as you inviting BLIND golfers lol

When I used to do this early on - I have 1 or 2 people come and play - and expect me to actually treat them as if I had genuinely invited them to come play my course, at MY expense.  🙂

Absolutely not. I'm asking how do I pay. And if you tell me not to worry about it, I'm going to continue to ask how to pay. 😄

Maybe it's how I was raised, I don't know, but I can't stand that type of person
