Help understanding face rotation & best style of putter for my stroke

Hi all

I'm using my Blast Motion sensor to help improve my putting. I've got quite a few different designs of putter and wondered if I shared my basic info, whether any of the experts in here could help point me in the right direction of which putter I should be looking to use. My "miss" is a push to the right

All putters at 34" length. Using standard trail hand low overlap grip

Blast motion for 20 strokes with each putter

Taylormade Face balanced Ardmore #1

Face angle at impact = -0.2 (closed)

Backswing rotation = 4.4

Forwardswing rotation = 4.6

Lynx Anser style plumbers neck

Face angle at impact = +0.4 (open)

Backswing rotation = 4.6

Forwardswing rotation = 4.2

Lynx Prowler 1/2 shaft offset slight toe hang

Face angle at impact = +0.5 (open)

Backswing rotation = 4.3

Forwardswing rotation = 3.7

Anser style but slant neck

Face angle at impact = +0.2 (open)

Backswing rotation = 4.4

Forwardswing rotation = 4.2

Odyssey Toe Up

Face angle at impact = +0.6 (open)

Backswing rotation = 4.7

Forwardswing rotation = 4.1

Do I have a low rotation stroke? I've always considered myself to be a more SBST style of putter and always gravitated to face balanced mallets, but I've often wondered whether the face balance left the face open a little?

Would love to hear your thoughts

Thanks

I don’t have a frame of reference regarding the rotation numbers, so i can’t say how SBST your stroke is but the slant neck anser and face balanced taylormade have the most consistent numbers by a decent amount. So maybe narrow down the testing further to just those two models

Also: I really dislike the misleading notion that you need to use a a face balanced putter with a SBST stroke, and that you need toe-hang for an arcing stroke. Your might find that your stroke fits better with one over the other, but it’s 95% personal preference. Most people can get used to either putter just fine, so it’s simply what you feel most comfortable and **confident** with

A face-balanced putter with the center of gravity (COG) pushed more forward might help with the pushes since it’s easier to square the face (Odyssey has pushed the COG forward in recent releases). And it’s actually a good thing to know your misses (pushes), because it sounds like you also know where you won’t miss it (pulls). By all means give the slant beck anser a try, it might be a good change of pace, but you also might find yourself dealing with both pulls and pushes.

I like to rotate between my putters (mallets, blades, etc) and while i can get very hot with my blade, there are dark times on the course where i’m excessively pulling and pushing. Whereas with my fb mallets, I almost never have to worry about a pull and so that negative swing thought doesn’t enter my mind (if i were playing for money, my mallet would be my putter of choice)

My testing of putters (real, objective testing, not feelings) shows that people, regardless of arc and toe hang, putt better based on other factors.

People putt better based on parameters such as rpm off the face, delivered loft, true MOI, based on dispersion instead of marketing slogans, energy transfer, and distance to true roll.

All of your numbers are pretty similar, and anytime your face angle can be less than 1* different than where it was pointing when starting your stroke (which is what blast motion measures) you're doing pretty good.

I'd try repeating this test a few more times, mixing up the order you test in and get more data to choose based off of.

Personally using my Blast Motion I found that I had a face closed tendency with toe hang around 45* and an open tendency with face balanced.  I settled on a custom putter around 20* and it's right in the sweet spot for me for a very square face at impact.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
