Hey guys I’ve been toying around with the idea to shortening my backswing, what are your thoughts? I’m hoping it can bring some more consistency and better tempo thoughts. Here’s a swing for reference.

Can you post a face on video? It looks like your weight is on your left foot in the backswing, making it difficult to be consistent in the downswing. I don't think you have a long swing but just from this video it looks like you start the downswing very steep and then have no room for rotation. Basically, you have no wrist set and the hips are not open at P6. It looks like in the follow through you have a slight chicken wing.

Doing drills with a shorter backswing and then focusing on a good transition path followed by rotation may help.

No quite face on but I feel like I am definitely weight shifting. I would agree I am steep. I can post a face on by tmrw

If you work on getting the hands deeper in the backswing that may help you in transition. You start transition with hip and shoulder rotation, which is robbing you of power and a good path. Work on bringing those arms down first with some lateral movement towards the target. Then you can turn through the ball. You basically turn first without those other 2 elements in the downswing.

Work on getting the hands a little deeper in the backswing and working those arms down earlier, not faster, i  transition, ala the Justin Rose drill.

So main thing is hammer home that Justin rose drill? Then hands deeper?
