Welcome to the western suburbs, Whoop! Of course you may want to re-think that move after the 8" of fresh snow they're predicting for tomorrow. ;)

There's plenty of good golf within 20 minutes of River, and a lot more if you don't mind driving a little further. There's a nice private club about 20 minutes away, and there's 3 courses (2 executive nines and a full 18) 15 minutes away in the Metroparks. And another couple public courses very nearby.

I'm just a senior duffer who enjoys a quiet afternoon nine a couple times a week, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about the area.

:D

I grew up in extreme western Cleveland, on the border of Fairview Park and Lakewood. A stone's throw away from Rocky River. I've never formally introduced myself as a Clevelander to wrx'ers though. Anyhow, I moved to Westlake last year.

I played high school golf in the area, and we played some nicer courses.

If you are looking for courses extremely close to Rocky River, Big Met is probably the best within 10 minutes. Be advised though, the pace of play there is always an issue on weekends. Springvale in North Olmsted is okay, the layout is a little more challenging, but you never know about the condition. Sweetbriar was my home track in high school, but I haven't been out there since they built the legacy 9, which is supposed to be top notch.

My best of the greater Cleveland Area would have to be something like (in no particular order) Pine Hills, Little Mountain, Bunker Hill (combination of value and fun), Grey Hawk and The Reserve at Thunder Hills. Also, for a great value, but also again you'll run into slow play issues, you have to check out Sleepy Hollow, a really hilly design that will test every part of your game, especially from the tips; and also Manakiki, a Donald Ross design. Both are owned by the Cleveland Metroparks - which owns Big Met that I mentioned before. Hit me up with questions or if you want to partner up sometime, I'm always down for a new foursome.

Welcome. I have lived around here my whole life (28 years) so I know the courses pretty well. Grew up playing all the courses in the South suburbs (Bunker Hill, Pleasant Valley, Pine Hills, Hinkley Hills, Ironwood, Mallard Creek, Skyland, etc). TONS of courses if you drive about 45 minutes south. Live out on the west side now (Bay Village) and can say there arent a ton of nice courses out this way. Many average ones though. If you drive west an hour or so there is a nice course in Grafton, and Thunderbird Hills out past Amherst. Not sure what business you are in, but maybe you could score a round at Red Tail, which recently went private. It is out in Avon and has many members from the west side of town.

My favorites are Pine Hills, Sleepy Hollow, Bunker Hill and Boulder Creek.

Also, check out www.golfclevelandohio.com. They have reviews of almost every course along with a big map. While golf season is only 6 months per year, there are well over 200 courses within an hour or so of Cleveland.

I also live in the Cleveland area(eastside) and there are some really nice courses. The posts before mention some nice tracks and I have to agree with these guys. You will like it here in OHIO and te golf is very good. I will make some suggestions for you but most are covered here. I try to play a lot of golf and from my experience these are the courses that I enjoy the most.

Public:

Little Mountain...Great track and better beer cart girls.

Sweetbrier GC...Legacy 18 is a really nice layout and well taken care of.

Grey Hawk GC...new course but is well kept and very challenging from the Tips.

Boulder Creek...Great course but terrible staff!

Eagle Creek GC...This is a great layout in sandusky.

Pine Hills GC...Great place to play!

Stonewater GC...Nationwide course and pretty fun place to play.

Chippewa GC...This is a nice and challenging course with nice greens.

Shale Creek GC...Great new track with challenging layout.

I also am looking for people to tee it up with and if you are ever wanting a game let me know. PM me and let me know anytime. :D ;) ;)

BRS... I have heard good things about Shale Creek, in the Medina Area right? What is that course like?

Also, a little bit further east you can't count out Fowler's Mill, although I hear its beginning to get crowded.

A little gem my league has found is called Wicked Woods out in that eastern area, we play a scramble there every June. Let me tell you, talk about reasonable rates! They have some of the best deals in town, not to mention probably the best senior rate in town. Fun track too.

Even though you are a West Sider, I will not hold that against you.

StoneWater is private as of last year, so take that one off your list.

Little Mountain was a 5 star (Golf Digest) course last year. Great course.

Fowlers Mill is a nice course and you can get on there for some great prices.

check out golfclevelandohio.com that will help sum up the courses....

welcome!

I'll be in Ohio and can play golf July 6th through 11th if anyone can play. Looking for another round at Little Mountain near Painesville. Played there last summer and it was awesome! I can play anywhere between Erie, PA, Cleveland, and Youngstown. Possibly looking to play a round at Whispering Woods near Erie, PA and also Peak n Peek upper course in NY. PM if you want to meet up.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
