Streamsong (May 18-20) Any Advice?

Print the directions out or download the map to your phone IA.

Zero reception out there, I got lost and drove like 20 minutes in the wrong direction.

I advise a caddie... Greens are very different if you aren't used to Bermuda and the speed.

Appreciate the heads up!

Good Morning Everyone!

I have a trip planned for Streamsong May 18-20 playing all three courses. Any advice from anyone that has visited prior?

Any help is appreciated THANKS!!!

There's not really any specific "advice". It's a golf only resort with not much else to do.

Caddies vs not is a very personal decision but I enjoy them. Have never had a "great" caddie at Streamsong but I like not having to carry or push my bag on vacation.

Service wise - set your expectations low and be prepared for delays and you'll be okay. Never, ever let a waiter or bartender go without placing an order - if they ask you if you need a minute to look at the menu, the answer is no, you're ready to order. If you're only halfway done with your drink and they come around asking if you need another, the answer is yes. If you let them out of your sight it might be a half hour before you see them again.

It’s been a few years since I was there, in fact the third 18 wasn’t there yet. I think they had a major issue with the greens last year, am sure it is solved now, haven’t heard about any ongoing trouble. I enjoyed both courses very much, even in weather hot and humid enough to make the devil sigh.

No cell service on course, check! Gives a good reason to turn phone off. 🙂

The practice green is huge…..spend some time there. BIG Bermuda greens played havoc on me.

Even years ago the service was painfully slooooow. Even basic stuff like a hot dog in the bar when waiting out a Tstorm took ages. I think the location makes it hard for them to hire, at least that is my working theory. Second @ND2005 advice on this topic.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just got back from Streamsong for Memorial day weekend.  Played Blue once and Red and Black twice.  Overall it was a good trip but the resort has room for improvement for sure.  On the positive side, all the courses seem to have fully recovered from any conditioning issues and are in good shape.  We did not have any dining service issues as reported by others but were sure to be ready to order due to past reports.

When we arrived for our first round they had us walking and carrying our own bags for all 5 rounds even though I had requested carts / forecaddie for all rounds during the book process and confirmed when moving tee times around.  They were able to get us a caddie so not a huge deal but a little stressful at the time (who is trying to walk and carry 36/36/18 there in late May)

We couldn't get our preferred dining reservation when we tried so book those right away if you are going.  We ended up eating dinner at the pub in red/blue clubhouse the first day and it was AWFUL (stale buns, way over cooked burgers, cold fries).  The second night we ate at the bar at Fin and Feather, seemed like there were tons of open tables the whole time we were down there (2+ hours) so kind of annoying we couldn't get a table.  Also ate in the black club house for lunch two days which was pretty good.

Our hotel booking got messed up and we got double charged for a room (deposit wasn't accounted for correctly).  They corrected this pretty quick.  Overall the booking process / systems seem like they need a ton of work, would make things better for both customers and employees who have to fix the mistakes.

Pace of play is definitely an issue, I would expect 4.5-5 hours on Red/Blue and 4.75-5.25 on Black.

Ouch, seems pretty crunchy.  I haven't been there since 2015, but the above indicates they still don't have the basics under control.

I really liked the golf courses (Red and Blue are all that were there when I visited), but the logistics of getting to Streamsong are hard enough, and the cost of the stay is high enough, that basic F&B and organization should be table stakes IMO.
