Do all elite players squat in transition?

I find those fitness elastic loops that you put around your thighs just above your knees are an excellent training aid for knee width as you mentioned; the heavier resistance, the better. 

We can all learn from Moe Norman’s transition .Look at the differences in his lower body and legs between the top of his swing and the end of transition . At the top his lead leg is slightly bent towards the trail leg with the crease on the pants  of his lower falling well inside his foot. His left knee is obviously inside his left foot . 
At the end of transition his lower leg  and pants crease is vertical with his lead kneecap over his heel. His foot is flat .

The outside of his left hip has moved laterally to a position over the inside of his left foot. 
His lower body movements , while not large are easily discernible , are  anatomically efficient  and should be a model for golfers .

He has started his transition like other great ball strikers -via left hip external rotation , which rotates his left knee toward the target , and lead hip abduction , which helps to move his lead hip laterally .

 

The same movements , although exaggerated are present in Mac Ogradys swing . IMOP Moe was more efficient , but Mac was certainly a terrific ball striker

A lot of things to distinguish here. There is lowering, squatting, re-flex, and pressure. All of these things can be happening in combination or separately. I think your question is do pros consciously squat? No, a lot do not. I would say most re-flex the right knee in transition, just because its essential, but they are not consciously re-flexing.
