How can I help my neighbor unload a lot of cool stuff from his golf shop?

Hi. I have a neighbor here in Greenwich, CT who's 70-something, and over his life has worked his fingers almost literally down to the bone!

 

I go across the street sometimes, and try to help him but have been building a house and just haven't the energy.

 

He and his wife have owned a small golf shop for three generations here. They used to make their own line of persimmon woods, and were warranty center for Wilson and Hogan back in the day.

 

He has a zillion shaft pulls, all kinds of neat classic stuff. If I tried to post it all on eBay I'd be working full time at that!

 

I want to help him clear out all his not-needed inventory. He only has a couple of years left in his tank, and has car after car coming to his home here in town at all hours, so just can't get to 'it'.

 

Is there a way to buy an ad, post who he is, do this legitimately? I am positive there are members here who would die for what he's got. 

 

I've seen drawers full of classic heads, brand new, same with everything. It's brimming in there, I want to help him. Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

Step 1 whichever method you end up with is to inventory it. Are you willing to sell in bulk at wholesale or do you retail prices. Don’t need pics yet. If you have a Play it Again Sports or Golf Galaxy, they might send someone to come by and buy much of it (at wholesale) otherwise it gets piecemealed out to the on line websites or put up signs in and around the neighborhood for a garage or liquidation sale and advertise on Craigslist.

While we applaud you for wanting to help, there isn't any way to work around the B-S-T rules.

Tell him about ebay, help to set up an account and let him take care of his business if he wants to.  I went through something similar a year ago when a neighbor's father passed away, he had 70 full bags of clubs plus putters, shafts, a golf cart, etc.

 

All I could do was to point her in the right direction, selling that stuff piece by piece would of been a full time job.  I told her about play it again sports and ebay. 

 

Under no circumstances would I volunteer to do the selling, shipping, tax issues, and customer service that comes along with it.
