Question about scotty cameron weight hole

Hiya, quick question, not sure if it’s been  answered before…

 

On a Special Select putter, how much would the head weigh if the weight holes didn’t exist?

 

Basically I’m trying to find out at what point the “weights” add more perimeter weighting to the head design vs being lighter then what would be there if the head wasn’t milled out

Scotty changes the weight on the heads based on length. The purpose of these weights is as they say to increase the MOI but also they can just mill 1 head for each shape instead of 3-4 for each length. This just means they add the proper weights and out the door it goes.

 

This saves them a ton of money and also doesn't cause a single head weight needed to be remade or just sits and doesn't sell.

Empty heads are 280g so the total weight with the screw-in weights installed would be 340g at 35", 350g at 34", etc.

Good question. I’ve wondered the same thing because the weight holes are pretty large, meaning a lot of weight was milled out. I’m guessing it’s more to do with easy/cost-effective manufacturing + weight customization, than it does with the marketed “perimeter weighting boosting moi”.

 

For comparison: I also own a 2022 Toulon and the heel/toe weight holes are very small, and the tungsten weights fit extremely snug - which is how it should be for ACTUALLY boosting perimeter weighting + moi.
