How to make my putter evenly heavier

Alright guys, I have a PXG Gunboat that weighs 640 grams that I love the weight. It is my gamer. I recently won an Odyssey Versa 7s in a tournament that is obviously much lighter but I thought could be a decent back up. I want to make it heavier and I can obviously do that with lead tape but it will throw the balance of the putter off. What are your suggestions for increasing the weight of the putter to match it equally in the head, shaft and grip?

So assuming your putter's total weight is 640g, you have some options. Versa 7 head weight is 365g and your Gunboat could be anywhere from 305g to 415g. I would start by getting a swingweight on the Gunboat. Once you do that, pull and weigh both heads then get some 1" or 2" lead tape and slab out the bottom of the Odyssey to match headweight. At that  point you can weigh your shaft/grip combo on the Gunboat, look up what grip is on it and deduct the grip weight from the total weight of the shaft/grip combo. That should give you an idea of how heavy of a shaft to look for. Once you get the shaft part sorted out, dry fit the Odyssey and get a swingweight. Then you can do your final weighting adjustments to match the Gunboat.

All my putters are heavy 390g or above. The easiest and cheapest way to accomplish this is to stick a strip of lead tape down the back of your entire putter shaft. Go test it out with a pair of scissors. Hit putts and if they are missing right (right handed) it's probably too heavy. Cut 2" off the top of the lead tape strip (near the grip not head) and try again until your direction straightens out. Since all of this tape is below the grip, it's all adding swing weight. Other methods would be to lead-tape the head (would need much less lead tape than on shaft but looks bad) or to stick tungsten powder down the shaft and cork it like in the old days. Lastly, could try one of the odyssey shafts with steel tip the rest graphite, this will increase your swing weight while keeping static weight lower. Good luck!

For every 2 grams you add to the head, add 5 grams to the grip.
