Tobacco Road Tomorrow with my 14yr old son

This will be his first trip there and he's excited. 1:15 tee time. I know sunscreen and hydration are a must but a general idea on course conditions would be great. I'm not sure if we'll be paired with anyone but it would be cool if someone here was paired with us.

On a side note, a decent restaurant in Southern Pines. We're staying in the EconoLodge. Perhaps a good Mexican Restaurant?

We're going to checkout the Pinehurst Resort before the 5+hr drive back to Tennessee.

Enjoy - you are in for a treat. Got a chance to play with my son in 2021 who was at Pinehurst for the National High School Golf championship.

More forgiving than you think when missed in the right spot. After playing once, you will definitely want to get back out there again.

I've always wanted to play there! Mike Strantz did a re-design of our club in California around 2000-2001. He gave what was a pretty cookie cutter country club track some interest and character. As was noted above, it's more forgiving than you think, but the misses have to be in the right spot.

Bug spray, the no see ums don't quit and will be buzzing in your ears all day. Actually played the course with ear plugs last time.

Chapman's Restaurant in Southern Pines is very good and there are a couple more that won't disappoint. Not too familiar with Mexican joints in SP though.

Mexican? Come on man, you're in Pinehurst. Enjoy something unique to the area.

Go eat at the Lounge at Pine Needles. Casual spot with great burgers, sandwiches, etc., and a great golf vibe.

Or go down to the Village, walk around a bit, and eat at Dugan's, or take the short drive over to Maxie's, eat some wings, and hang with the locals.

Need water, Gatorade and a snickers at the turn.

Casa Mexicana is our go to spot but I agree with the other poster. Try Pine Needles or Chapmans unless you just want Mexican.

I wanted to play the week of 7/14 but they were closed for aeration. Can you sneak a round in at Southern Pines possibly?

We just got to our motel after a close to 5hr round at TR. We're going to try Pine Needles for supper. My 14yr old shot his best round ever, even par 71. He was only in one waste area. 3 birdies and 3 bogies. I suck so a DNF for me. Thanks to all for the food recommendations.

Edit- We ended up at Maxie's.
