Can we lighten penalties for long/good-standing members?

I just got a 7-day ban because I posted a WTT in the WTB.  This doesn't bode well when I'm trying to sell a bunch of stuff that I can't edit my Classified thread on, or respond to messages of interested users.  It was an honest mistake, and not something I'm trying to circumvent, or just mass-post multiple threads.  I've been here a long time, and don't read the ever-changing rules every time I post, or even every single year.  

 

I get that "violation points" accrue, and it was probably another simple absent-minded post I made last year along the same lines.  But come on guys.  

 

Wouldn't a thread-deletion and a "Deleted for XYZ" be a lot more constructive?  7-day bans are way too much.  As well as "no appeal process".

If you cant be bothered to read the rules - then why should the mods be bothered to change them for you?

 

FWIW the rules aren't "ever changing", theyve largely been the same for the last 20 years. So stop. If you've been here as long as you have - not posting WTT in the WTB is LITERALLY one of the longest standing rules we have.

My argument isn't the rule.  Nor is it to change them.  I'm asking for lighter penalties, and realistic penalties that fit the "crime".  Just kill the post (which you do anyways) and tell me why I f***** up.  It's not on purpose, again.

You posting privileges were suspended 7 days for accrual of 3 warning points since 9/22, not just for your last warning. Your last WTT ad in the WTB forum had 6 violations, not just one. You ignored multiple long-standing BST rules.
