Where to join? Orlando

I may potentially be moving to Orlando and looking for a course to join.

Any thoughts?

Orlando seems to cover a wide range of places so I’ll try to break it down into general areas. You also didn’t mention any price points, so I’ll try to list everything I know about.  I’m sure there are others that know more about the different clubs than I do.  I’ll also mention that there are a lot of good public courses in the area that are worth checking out.

 

Downtown/Winter Park

Interlachen - very nice, but exclusive and out of my price range

Country Club of Orlando - More reasonably priced.  I don’t know much about the facilities

 

Dr. Phillips/Theme Parks

Orange Tree - moderately priced, good course (tight fairways).  Heard there’s a waitlist

Isleworth - High priced, but really nice.  I don’t know much about it because it’s out of my price range

Bay Hill - Higher price, not sure about fees

Champions Gate - Good course, not sure about fees.  There are also public courses by the resort, the private club is detached from it.

 

Lake Mary/Winter Springs

Heathrow - 2 courses, full club with tennis and pool.  Reasonably priced

Alaqua Lakes - Golf only.  Prices seem reasonable, but they are only accepting certain memberships

Timacuan - Recently went private.  Golf only, actively looking for members.  Renovating parts of the course and clubhouse

Tuscawilla - Full club.  Family oriented.  Reasonably priced

 

Lake Nona

Lake Nona - I don’t know much about it, but it seems like the only option in that area

 

Clermont

West Orange - Good course that’s reasonably priced.  My dad was a member there for a while and enjoyed it.  He left because he hurt his back and doesn’t play much anymore.

 

I live on the east side of Orlando by Winter Springs.  I was a member at Tuscawilla for about 6 years and enjoyed my time there.  I left because I’ve been splitting my time between Orlando and New Smryna Beach and wasn’t able to use the membership often enough.  Good luck with your search.

Championsgate Country Club is semi - private. I think annual fees are between $8,000 and $9,000.

I was debating on Orange Tree. I'm really wanting somewhere with a great practice facility. I tend to do more practicing then playing.

 

I have not looked into Interlachen or CC of Orlando yet. 

 

Lake Nona and Isleworth prices a month are absurd.  Bay Hill, you can't get into due to the wait list.
