Info on: Miura MC 501 Variations

Question for all the Miura experts out there: What are the different variations of the MC501 iron? I am asking because I came across one on Ebay sold by proclubs that has "forged" stamped on the hosel. I am wondering if it is authentic because I have never seen that stamping before. The only versions I've seen are the JDM (MG logo) and the US version that has "made in Japan" on the hosel.

Secondary question: Are there any differences between all the versions other than the badging?

The irons that are stamped with "forged" are real. Now, could they possibly be fake? Of course. With Miura, you're taking a gamble unless they are a legitimate retailer/seller of their goods on the bay. I've always gone through Miura. There is a user in the BST threads that has a listing of 4-PW 501 irons: they're in great shape and only $1200.

Thanks for the reply. I managed to find an official statement from Miura regarding this.

So Prior to 2020, "forged" or "genuine" was stamped on the hosel. Then changed to Made in Japan. Must have been a short run for the "forged" stamping because all the previous irons I've owned or seen have "Genuine" stamped.

They can stamp it anyway they want, you’ll still come across fakes now and again, so unless the seller is a genuine previous owner, be careful of the rest.
The only reason why they changed the stamping is because of Miura’s agreement with the USA greedy monkey 8AM Milstein.
I would personally never buy a Miura retail version, I will only buy one from the Miura HQ factory where I can see them do my own grind order in front of me. Otherwise all these other retail ones are no different to any other iron, you’re paying extra money for a label that means nothing, it’s just a hunk of steel like any other, and Mizunos feel better than Miura anyways .
