Driver Issue

I purchased a Callaway Mavrik when it came out. My swing speed is above average, and I can drive 250+ yards that is when my driver works. I have had the driver head break for the 4th time. My initial head had a dead face. It was replaced by Callaway, no charge. Next season a crack on the face next to the "jailbreak" outer pin. Replaced. Soon a similar minute fracture. Replaced. Last year I had shoulder surgery. My driver started up again, losing distance. I blamed the shoulder. I ended the year with a driver going 200 yards. Then I cleaned it in water. Bubbles. Broken face. The pro gave it to the Callaway rep at my club. I have the shaft. I have an offer to get a Paradym driver for about $50 below the current price. Three of my last 4 drivers (before the Mavrik) were Callaway. Would you trust a new driver from them or switch brands? I noticed the design of drivers after the Mavrik added "jailbreak pins" and I believe flex was the issue. Leave Callaway and try something new? Or take the offer they gave me.

In my opinion, I would probably try and go for a different driver and move away from Callaway. It's great to see that they would replace your driver head after so many cracks! Recently, Taylormade has been very good with their customer service and if a driver head was cracked or broken more than 2-3 times, they will replace your broken one with a Tour Issued Driver head. The Tour Issued head is reinforced better with a stronger epoxy and will include a more durable hosel. They started doing this about 4 months ago.

In all honesty, it also depends on where you're striking the ball. If you're hitting the ball high on the face, close to the hosel, or on the toe (places other than center of the face), the club has a higher chance of breaking. I've also seen that people who strike the ground with their driver will typically break the shaft but it seems like it's more a ball striking issue to me.

If you're consistently striking center of the face and hover the club off the ground when you hit the ball, I'm not sure what could be causing the continuous broken heads.
