Long counter balance putters and toe hang/neck configuration

Looking at the trend of counter balance putters becoming semi popular again it seems most of the people using the style are using it with a face balance or near face balanced style putter. Does anyone know if there’s any particular reason for this and why something like a longer putter with say a plumber neck seems to be less popular?

Not sure why, I got fitted at Club Champion and they said my stroke was best fit for face balance. I don't think I've seen a counter balanced putter with significant toe hang. I play an older Scotty Cameron Dual Balance and mainly like it for the total weight, just feel the heavier putter takes a lot of the small movement out of the stroke, so I get better consistency. Regarding speed, took a little getting used to at first, but now I have it dialed in. I tried going back to a traditional Newport 2 and felt my consistency was dreadful and the putter felt way too light.
