My Maxfli Tour-X review

I've been using the yellow Maxfli TourX for several months now and I have to say it's a great ball. And, when you factor in the price it's unbeatable.

The ball, of course, is long off the tee - and controllable. But more remarkably it has a tremendous amount of green side spin. It's very easy to hit pitch shots from 30 40 and 50 yards and have them stop almost instantly. In fact you have to be a little careful about chipping around the greens with a high lofted iron as it will probably check up more than you might expect. But that is easily compensated by using a lower lofted club.

When I first started using the TourX I didn't really like it because it launched much higher than I was used to. But I did notice my 2h & 3h flew higher and I thought that was a plus. It turned into a great plus when I realized I could clear trees that I couldn't before and make shots I couldn't before. It launches higher with all clubs.

Second thing I really didn't like about the ball was it is definitely harder (higher compression) and you can feel that. In fact, the box of balls I played before this was a box of Maxfli TourS which are, of course, much softer. However after seeing the distance increase and eventually accepting the benefit of a higher flight, the hardness of the ball became a non-issue.

I don't think I get great iron distance especially anything extra from using the TourX but I've been able to adjust easily enough. And I can hit distances I need to.

It's not uncommon for me to use the same ball for 3 rounds or so before losing one. With that said the ball is quite durable. It will show some little marks and whatnot from three rounds for sure, but overall it's very durable.

Overall, I couldn't be happier that I decided to try this ball even though it wouldn't have been suggested as a fit for my 65 year old swing speed. It's nice to play golf with great equipment that doesn't cost a fortune.

Nice review . They were 25$ a dozen last month which is a hard deal to beat if the performance is legit.

I have played it for 3 rounds now and my observations are similar. No issues for me and I am usually pretty picky about ball performance.

The first two boxes I bought were two for 70. And last month I did purchase four for 100 bucks. I got five full boxes on the shelf which at the rate I'm losing balls should last me till I'm 110!
