My G430 10K Trackman Experience/Review

Spent a little more time with the 10K earlier today because I really want to love the tech behind it.

I initially tried it out last week and wasn’t meshing well with it. A few months ago, I realized on Trackman that my AOA hovers around -1.0 up to 1.0 at most. I gamed a 9° TSR3 last year and felt I was losing distance to low launch.

Because of this new info, all of the driver heads I’ve tested in the last few weeks have all been 10.5° or 11°.

Today, I paid a little more attention to the spin and launch of the 10K and realized the reason I wasn’t meshing well with it the other day was because of that 10.5° loft. So the first thing I did was start experimenting with lower launching shafts but because the shaft profile wasn’t right for me, I just started hitting spinny cuts/fades and started to lose hope.

Then the light bulb moment happened. Stick with my shaft profile and go back down to a 9° head. I tried out a few different shafts and there was one clear winner for me. Pictures of the data are below.

I think because of the size and weight of the 10K head, it’s very important that it’s paired up with a shaft that has a very stiff tip. The Velocore Blue is what performed the best and is obviously a premium shaft with a long history of success. And I know it makes just about any driver head better, but I could really feel the head more and stability of the 10K in my swing with the change. I think a tip stiff shaft is a very important pairing with the 10K head to improve stability and dispersion.

I know the driver head is designed to keep smash high and help on off center strikes, but I think you can really see it shine with the proper shaft. Lastly, my experience was that 10K tech definitely increases spin and launch compared to most other drivers. I fit better into just about everything else at 10.5° of loft. But that wasn’t the case for this driver. When testing, if you don’t like what you see with your typical driver loft, trying going down to a lower loft.

I know spin is still a bit high in the results but the dispersion was out of this world for me. I have never used a driver that felt this easy before. I bought it with the Tour 2.0 65S shaft and plan on putting the new 2024 Velocore+ 6S in it when it releases next month.

Final statement- I don’t care if I’m giving up 6-8 yards of distance for this kind of dispersion because spin numbers are considered a little on the high side. I took a lot more swings with the Velocore because it felt so good. I only had to delete one errant shot and took triple the amount.

Sign me up for drives like this all year.
