MP-32: new shaft for the old muscleback?

G’day gents. Hear me out, seeking re-shafting advice for my MP-32s vs buying new.  They’re second hand and I’ve had them for 10 years but they are unreal clubs.

im a 10 handicap, former hockey player (but I’m playin golf today) 7 iron 190 yards+

I currently game MP-32’s with fcm rifle 6.0 shafts.  My current miss is a full distance pull, easily missing 15-20 yards left of target. Starts straight and yips on over left and continues to run away from the target.

i got fitted this week and was fit into DG X100.  The X100s flew well, dispersion Was sound, not sprayed but I felt like I really had to go after it (swing hard)

I asked to try nippon pro modus 3 120X (after doing research I identified this shaft could be a good fit) and hit a tight and I mean tight grouping at 200 yards.  And was swinging easy, ball was flying excellent trajectory - baby fade, butter cuts.

to my question, has anyone played a newer shaft of this sort of profile with an older muscle back or blade?

good idea to re-shaft or get a set of players distance irons (probably maltbys)  with the new shafts?

Either way I can’t wait to get swinging these nippons.

thanks!

If you love the mp32 heads then reshaft them…cheaper if you can reshaft yourself. And as long as the heads are not too worn so worth the reshaft. But if the cost of shafting, weight adjustments, grip etc gets close to a new set of Maltby then maybe cheaper to go new. But ultimately play what you like and as long as you can afford it

If you feel like you really have to go after it to get basic feedback, IMO they are too stiff, maybe too heavy or both.  The age of head or shaft doesn't matter as long as both are in excellent condition.

Oh, I've played blades for most of the time since taking up golf in the early/mid-90s.  Many years back, I played X-100 in blades, then went to Rifle FCM 6.5, then to PX 6.0.
