Utility irons can work

56, Australia, hit my drives today around 240-250 yards, a couple went a little longer down wind. I hit 3HL around 220-230 and 5i around 180. Ive done OK with 2H until I found the 3HL, I don't like higher lofted hybrids - they don't perform any better, the misses are much worse.

 

I have tried every utility iron and now have a few to sell! We have some tight par 4s and some long approach shots. Ive been playing the last few rounds with a Stealth DHY 2UI. What a club and it gaps fine around 200 yards. The numbers, the loft ... ignore that if it works! The fact people say you should be in hybrids or woods ... ignore that too! Play a UI and, if you are like me, try this Stealth DHY. It has a 75HY Adila shaft in stiff and it's just easy to hit.

lol JK, also a big utility guy. I've messed around with one for 2 years now and finally think I've found the perfect match. Its a mizuno MP 20 HMP 2 iron on a PX Hzrdus black. might be creeping into the 5w territory now though, so debating whether to drop the 5w for another utility 3i or drop that club entirely and add an extra wedge and turn the loft up on the 3w.
