Any 2024 Cleveland Halo XL Hybrid reviews?

I finally gave in to getting a 5-hybrid and got the Halo XL . The previous model XL Launcher 4h is my favorite club in the bag. The new model is fantastic. It sounds/feels a little 'springier' but is just as easy to hit as the previous model.

So, I have gamed Cleveland Hybrids since the release of the original Halo range (all black with rails on the bottom #19 and #22 Degree).  These hybrids changed by game and were the sole reason my handicap dropped significantly, super forgiving and straight.  They knock out my bag, the Ping 410 hybrids (and these are good, so it's saying something about the under rated Cleveland Hybrid).

I then replaced my Cleveland Halo #19 degree with last year's Cleveland XL Halo Hywood (#18 degree).  The longer shaft and bigger head gave me more confidence and about 10 years more carry with no drop in dispersion.  I did have this fitted with the Cypher 60 regular shaft compared to the lighter shaft offering.  The #21-degree Cleveland XL Halo hybrid was a little disappointing compared to my original #22-degree Halo, so this did change.  Found the #22 degree outperformed the last years version in all avenues.

Now regarding this years 2024 Cleveland XL Hybrid range, I am testing the #21-degree hybrid, the Ping G430 #22 against my original Cleveland Halo #22.  Right now, there is no significant gains between the new XL #21-degree hybrid and my original Cleveland Halo #22.  However, the Ping 430 is looking really good (Ping tour shaft, regular) as its going 10 years further carry, tighter dispersion, sounds great and is adjustable so I can dial in yardages more.  So, testing but edging towards the Ping for my 4 hybrids.

Finally, and the best bit, took delivery of the new 2024 Cleveland XL Hywood (#17 Degree).  This is fitted with the Ascent 40 STIFF shaft (all my others above are regular).  After testing yesterday, this is going straight in my bag.  Compared to last years Hywood, its straighter, with 5-10 yards more carry.  The budget head is more forgiving, and the 0.5" longer shaft gives me more versatility.  I can fly is high with a good decent angle to stop on greens or low for stingers off the tee.  The STIFF but lighter shaft means I am no longer pulling or hooking shots like I occasionally did with last years REGULAR flex Hywood.  The shinning crown finish looks 100% better than the matt crown of last years hywood.  All in all, I would recommend this club to any golfers, you just need to ensure you get the right shaft flex based on your current set up and swing speed.

I will be posted videos on these clubs on my Tiktok so find me and follow me on leewalker1977 to see more which may help.

Happy golfing!

I was out of town this week and went to a store that stocked the Cleveland hybrids with the intention of either hitting the 4 and 5 hybrids (21° and 24°) or the 20° hywood and 24° hybrid. However they didn't have the hywood in stock so I demoed the 21°. After hitting a few the pro grabbed the 18° 3 hybrid and I was nailing this club and it was giving me the distance and trajectory I was hoping for from the 4 hybrid. Anyway long story short I walked out with the 3 and 4 hybrid versus the 4 and 5 hybrid I thought I wanted. Played with them for the first time yesterday and struck some great shots with both clubs but especially the 3 hybrid. I am coming from the earlier generation Launcher DST which I've loved but these seem to offer a hotter face and higher launch. I owned the DST in 18°, 20.5° and 23° but had given up on the 18° as I didn't seem to gain anything over the 20.5° and felt more comfortable and confident with the 20.5° and 23° which is why I thought the 21° and 24° would be the modern replacement. Anyway I hit both clubs beautifully yesterday on the course and they both felt great. On a long par 3 where I normally use my 4 wood I used the 3 hybrid and nailed the middle of the green. These seem to launch much higher than the older DST model which makes the 21° feel like an effective replacement for the old 23°. Another noticeable difference is the head of the 3 hybrid is much bigger than the 4 hybrid (143cc vs 132cc) but even the 4 hybrid is noticeably bigger than my old DST heads. Anyway very pleased with my purchase. I had previously demoed the Ping G430 and Callaway Paradigm which were both great too but twice the price of the Clevelands. Cleveland really are a value for money brand. All you're missing out on is adjustability but if the specs are right who needs adjustability?

Interesting about the Halo previous to the last gen being even better.  The last gen 4h is my ‘cold dead hand’ club. It is my security blanket club. It has a Monopoly themed ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ headcover.

quiet as it’s kept, I prefer it to my current gen 5h.  I wish would have gotten an older 5h.

It’s good - but the old one was amazing.
