Wrist Set and Simplifying the Backswing

I know I’ve kinda pushed this Faldo preset wrist thing in some other threads, so I apologize if this is overkill. But when my swing breaks down, if I do this very deliberately, “hold” the preset position a few seconds after checking face angle, and rotate back along the shaft line, I can almost always correct a bad habit. Keep in mind, I’ve been making full game swings like this ON COURSE for about 2 years. I should also note, I still use a std backswing on partial shots, chips, and if really trying to work the ball one particular way.

Typically, in the past, my hands/wrists get very active and close down the face, so pulls and hooks abound, but since becoming very conscious of my wrist angles before my swing, I can just focus on club path and not worry so much about my hands anymore. I know I’m very steep and EE/hump de bump, but this is so repeatable and consistent for me. I play to a 3-5hcp, slowly trending down.

FWIW, a good college friend always reacts on the first tee about my janky backswing when we get together 2-3x a year. “Still doin’ the Charles Barkley, huh!?!?”
