Swing quirk thoughts

Wondering if anyone else does this or general thoughts about a new swing quirk I have. I have always just sort of searched for a swing that is serviceable that I can play, not feel like im muscling the ball to the hole and produces good contact. My tendency is to fat every shot… EVERY… shot. I took a lesson from a local player who apparently used to be a pga teacher and had some limited success and I still use some drills he showed me. Recently I started messing around in the back yard and im starting my swing with the club hovered literally like 2 inches above the ball and I just feel like I can “feel” the correct way to move and feels like I just backswing, step forward thru shot and tilt down enough to collect the ball on the way through. Its been the only way iv ever really felt great contact. Seems so weird. For context iv been back to playing for  the past 2 seasons. Iv broke 90 twice but usually shoot 93-96. Just wondering if anyone else hovers their irons more than what would seem reasonable haha.
