Anyone got one and what are they like

Thinking of getting one i'm not sure which one yet but what exsperiences have you had with them i.e signal, e.t.c

I have the skycaddie sg5, and think it is possibly one of the best pieces of kit I have ever bought.

 

In terms of ease of use, coverage, signal etc I have had no problems at all. You may want to check out whether your course (or the courses that you wish to play) have been mapped by skycaddie so that you can download them straight on to the unit - if they arent there is a function that enables you to map out your course for yourself, I havent done this as it sounds a little complicated and timeconsuming.

 

The skycaddie has in my experience been spot on for distances, and really comes in to its own on par threes and approach shots - the fact that you have distances to the front middle and back of the green means that you can club up knowing that you are not likely to fly through the green.

 

The skycaddie has also been really useful in helping me to reality check the distances I hit my clubs, although finding out that my average drive comes in around 245 yards was a massive blow to my ego, (the 295 monster I hit in Portugal last week was nice though!!).

 

I would have no hesitation in recommending a sky caddie, I can t comment on other makes but hope this helps. Also if you want to mail me a list with the courses that you would use the unit on I will check to see if they are already mapped for you.

I've got a Sonocaddie and have found it be excellent. Got it from ebay for £100 so much cheaper than most GPS devices but it's more than adequate. No annual fee, great customer service, lots of courses mapped. Definately one to consider.

 

Have a search on here as there was a huge thread about this device a while ago which has lots of great info.

Also got a Sonocaddie on ebay towards the end of 2007. There was this seller who seem to have tons of them and he eventually run out. Excellent customer service.
