Paint imperfections do get through QC so this might not be a huge concern.  I would send Ping the serial number and see what they have to say.  You could also post the serial number in the Ping lookup thread here and see what comes back.

I assume it’s just an unlucky QC, but I’m going to bring it by and compare side by side with one in person. It doesn’t have any of the usual signs the G430 Max did for counterfeits. The other two things you mentioned were already on my mind, and likely things I’ll try.
