Need help diagnosing ball flight off the driver

I'm getting older, coupled with a bad back my swing speed is dropping off. The ball flight off my driver starts off mid trajectory, perfect flight with a baby draw then drops hard. It's not a knuckle ball, almost like its just losing ball speed very fast and dropping. Current set up is a stealth 2 with a Ventus red 6s. Is this ball flight characteristic of a shaft that too stiff? I haven't been on a launch monitor in several years so I'm not sure what my current swing speed. Thinking of getting fit for a new shaft.

It sounds to me like you may not be producing enough spin as this typically results in the ball that falls out of the air. Whether or not the shaft is too stiff is a different question -- sometimes a different profile shaft in the same flex does the trick, other times dropping a flex is the answer. I'd hit your current driver in a launch monitor and go from there.

If you like the shaft, go up in loft

I agree with st1800 and CWebb.  Loft up first.  It’s easy and costs nothing.  Are you hitting your irons differently also?  What type of ball are you playing?  If you like the feel of the driver shaft a spinnier ball may do the trick.

My irons have a great flight. I’ll try lofting up and try a different ball. I’m using Titleist avx which is a low spin ball so that might be the problem. Thanks.

It’s definitely a spin issue imho. Either not enough or waaaay too much, but based on everything else going on in the post aside from ball flight… I concur with what others have said. Not enough spin to hold its flight. 
 

If you like everything else about the avx I would add more loft before changing the ball out, and have a ball switch be the last resort to clean up the issue, if** you like the way it plays and feels everywhere else…

If you want to try changing balls, going to the Pro V1X puts you on the opposite end of the Titleist spectrum... high spin and high trajectory.
