Putters Thoughts on my putter design?

I say "my" very cautiously as I know there's probably about a thousand putters out there just like this one, but who doesn't love a little accidental inspiration, right? Anyway, I've had a few prototypes of other designs which I posted to other forums, to much backlash about how little I truly know about the world of CNC milling and putter design, so this is sort of an amalgamation of the feedback I've gotten over the last couple months, and a little research on my own. The plan is to have the head milled out of aluminum, which should be around 260 grams if my math is right, and then have some weights (12.5 and 25g) to bring it up to ~330g in total. I still have no clue if this will work at all, and/or the cost of milling itself (I don't know anyone with a milling company and I don't know where to get it milled). I am completely new and interested in this whole club designing and engineering thing, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

I can see some Mezz.1 in it, but I’ve heard some wise words once, and that’s that there’s only so many shapes in this world that you can put with. I’m sure the Mezz has some Scotty, which has some Ping, which has some TaylorMade and so on. I’m not gonna try to get myself to putt with a piece of metal cut into a hexagon just for the hell of it 🤷‍♂️

Good shapes are definitely copied, usually after the patent expires though. First pic screams stubby Mezz.1 but move the hosel spot forward and just a fang mallet.

Didn’t even think about patents haha, does it matter if I’m not selling?

Sheesh, looks like Apple's legal department has joined wrx eh.  I really doubt LAB is concerned with a hobbiest attempting to make a one-off, original or not.  

 

John, I applaud the effort.  My advice is to get in touch with some milling co asap, I think you might be surprised by the cost involved in something like this unless you can find a supplier overseas that is willing to do one-off projects.

Sole is flat, which is a problem.  Even more so on wide putters.  Different ways to solve the problem, whether you use soft curves or angular cuts. Below is a way to do it, but need have 2ish degrees of relief front to back and then some heel to toe
