Help me stop coming so far from the inside.

Iron = Straight, Woods = death

My dad was watching me hit balls with my 3 wood and driver and said I was coming to far from the inside, which I had thought too. I'm hitting low hooks and it is no fun. Please save me.

Do you setup to the right

Do you have too much axis tilt at setup

Are your shoulders closed at setup

Do you take your backswing around your body instead of more of a lifting motion

Not a bad problem. Hook only bad if the ball begins the flight left of the target.

a low hook isn't a bad problem...?

seems like it could be a serious issue to me...

you may want to practice with an obstacle to make you come a bit from the outside or down the line... i would have to assume your divots are pointing to the right...?

Low hook with water left is a HUGE problem. :) Have to crack a 3 iron.

About the divots, I only have this problem with the driver or 3 wood, but i'll monitor the 3 wood shots. Irons are pretty straight, divots are down the line.

you may simply be playing the ball too far forward... face is closing down before impact... if the path is solid, it's s clubface issue, i suppose...

trust me, i play with a guy that has the same problem... a nasty low hook... it is a serious issue...

Too me it seems it could be quite a few things.

1) Are you taking the club too afr to the inside with your hands in the takeaway getting the club stuck behind you?

2) Are you driving your legs hips towards the target in the downswing whilst you head is backing out of the shot as this causes the club to come too far from the inside?.....if it is this then place a box on the floor on the ball to target line but inside the clubhead and this will prevent the club from coming into the ball on too shallow an angle......You can also try an old shaft in the ground on you shaft plane at address inside the ball to target line and get the club to move over it back and through.

If you could post some footage or give any other info on the shot then I will be able to give you a definate answer.

i have been hitting my driver terrible lately and have had to hit my irons to play..like you, iron play has been pretty decent...

i played 9 with the pro of my local course and we seemed to possibley fix it for now..i was just not getting my weight to trasfer on my front side while following through..

one drill he told me to work on was to take my mid irons on teh range and play the ball way out in front beyond my front foot and practice like this..if you do not get the weight transfer through you will make terrible contact..

just an idea and it may help..

what i was referring to was a possible reverse pivot..i believe this will cause a low hook lie you are describing..

low hooks tell me that your face is coming in from inside and too shut. feel like you keep loft on the club coming down. right wrist should be pretty flat coming down, yours will be set way back against itself and too much on top of the shaft. in simple terms, keep the club in front of you coming down with loft, that will cure the low left.
