Need Iron Set

So I'm need of a new set of Irons. I have various brands(9 thru 6) such as Nike, Taylormade etc.

 

I just bought a few of these wedges, 58, 54 and 50.

 

I feel like I should stick with Callaways since I have the Callaway wedges. Yes?

 

Do Callaway make very good irons? Can I get a good new set for about $1k. I shoot about 90-95 on 18. Thanks a lot for any advice.

1) your irons don’t need to match your wedges.  Some people prefer the look of all one brand, but there is no need at all to have matching brands.  
2) Callaway makes fine irons, as do many other companies.  Best advice would be to get the right style of irons (super game improvement, game improvement, players distance, etc.) based on your skill level. Callaway and all the big name brands will have sets in each of these areas.

Thanks appreciate that. Whihc style would match what I score, usually in the 90's?  Planning to get better.

For that price, get fitted and buy the same or similar set used. You will still likely have money left over. It’s a good budget, don’t blow it by buying something random. You don’t need to match wedge to iron sets

Well I didnt get fitted and bought the Callways rouge ST irons. Had a good sale local gold store... $569 for PW thru 5 iron.  I know bad decision to buy them randomly but the guy said it was a good deal. Yikes.

If you're shooting 90s, get a cheaper set of Steelhead XR. If you want a keeper set, get some Apex.

Also older Big Bertha irons, but not the most recent version that's otherworldly expensive. I still don't understand those clubs.

Fwiw, Callaway makes my favorite irons. There's more back pocket or players stuff out there, but you can't beat Callaway.
