Aero Burner Tour issue

Recommended Posts

Just got this Tour Issue Aero burner but the serial doesn't start with a T.

How do I figure out if it's a real Tour Issue or not?

Yea, the R series have the plus, but this one doesn't have the plus on the hosel.

I read somewhere that the aeroburner Tour Issue may not have these signs?

Should have the + on the head, it not it wasn’t COR/CT tested.

I saw a reputable seller on eBay selling one and the photo doesn't have the +, but he said it's tour issue.

Maybe not all of the TS aero burners have it?

Or do they ALL have to have it?

When you say "TS" are you talking about a fairway wood?  The fairway woods will NOT have a "+" sign, the drivers WILL have a "+" sign.  If you have a driver without a "+" sign, there is no way to prove it is tour issue unless it is wrapped with a spec sticker.  Posting a photo of the club you bought or posting the eBay link would be helpful.

No, the driver. I was just too lazy to type "Tour Issue".... and now I realized I even misspelled TI to TS LOL.

Let me take a photo of the club, one sec.

I bought this from a different seller, but here’s another seller selling similar tour issue without the +

The photos and the link you posted look like a standard retail Aeroburner TP head.  Without the "+" there is no way to prove tour issue.  I highly doubt you will see any discernable difference in performance between the tour issue and TP head.

The tour issue heads tend to have an open FA while the retail is strongly closed on my R11s, R15 and R11 dot.

hence why I like the tour issue heads.

not sure about the ABurners though.

I think calling TM on Monday with the serial should tell me more.

The “TP” aeroburner had a flatter lie angle and more open face than the non-TP model.  The TP retail looks identical to the TP tour issue (I’ve owned them both)  I doubt you will get confirmation from calling Taylormade on a 10 year old driver.  You seem dead set on proving this is tour issue even though multiple people are telling you it is not.

Just wanting to be absolutely sure before I return it to the seller.

I paid a Tour Issue price on a retail TP so it's a bummer.

Thanks for all the info, my man.

Ebay would side with him if it's a no return policy just due to the fact it's the "tour preferred" aeroburner, which is what he is stating in the description. Probably could have left the "tour issue" off script but technically is a tour model. Pretty obvious when buying a actually tour head because detailed specs are usually always stated in description and on sticker. It's in good shape and was/is a great driver for many. $100 would be a good price. You wouldn't notice any difference anyway.

The above information is 100% false, eBay 99.999999% of the time sides with the buyer.

Yes, I know that. Pro clubs is a big seller so they would have a better shot at getting a favorable ruling then most. Post original ad or link.

Do you feel any difference or performance between your retail and tour issue heads?

Or are they just the same and it was a waste of $ to get the tour issue
?

My guess is that this is the driver head you bought:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/204797760226?itmmeta=01J2VJBHE8K91ACZQG3A50WEKP&hash=item2faee5d2e2:g:9bsAAOSwlXRmS6L6&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0CcWKEjVyAgX5s9e%2FI4pRqMRMeSnf50CqPUaZXV0jnu8CuedIC0fEgeeNdKJgeFEJTIbp5YaPmZi8gAIGQC%2Bg%2FHdhXWCaU%2B4g3lKNrdWtsI9oGlTdLPiB%2B3d%2FRlJNiWbE1WKbcsCzGbD%2FFDHrFiuitiquuYxxbQ6TvqEIciqKPZoEgGuA4mpfDe7OAhxfKi9FmSbxJUngCe1PSCyXeXwDIHkWBWXd4Aq99bzYe2l0zx6wpXarUUU6B6q3UZ8NTv0Aj%2FYCjI0ZcIEUOdM6YWuGug%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR6aXrvKWZA

The only benefit to buying a tour issue head and paying extra is knowing the specs.  If you don't get a spec sticker, you have no idea what the actual loft, face angle, or CT is anyway.  Why pay extra when you don't know what you are getting?

I honestly couldn't tell any difference between my retail TP head with no "+" and the tour issue head with a "+".  It looks like you only paid about $125 for the head.  If you like the way it looks I would just play it and call it a day.  It is really a pretty small investment.

I did more digging, looks like the Retail has a much shorter metal hosel while the Tour Issue has the longer one?

Not Exactly right....

The REGULAR Aeroburner driver has a short hosel.  The TP retail and tour issue has the same long hosel.  That is why the TP retail and tour issue are basically the same heads.

  • 2 weeks later...

FInally got the Tour issue model.

This driver is super easy to hit. Very forgiving and very high launching.

I even used a Kaili White / White board and it still launches high for me.

I'm losing some distance, but hitting 1 more fairway is welcome.
