Need help with iron shafts.

Which shaft helps hit the ball higher?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I currently play Titleist 660 and have tried a varity of CB irons, it seems no matter what I hit I get the same flight. Looking to hit them a little higher. Is there any irons shaft out there that will increase ball flight? Driver SS around 108mph. 8 iron 140-145 @ sea level. Any advice?

tweak loft a degree weak and try a softer tip shaft like Tour Concept. I'd do on the loft thing first and see if that's enough before spending money on shafts

What is the difference between the Tour Concept vs. your standard s-300. Thank you

The TC is softer in the tip, thus will deflect more through impact, increasing launch angle but also spin. The TC also plays alittle soft to flex which also adds to the deflection. The effect of shaft is mild but noticeable....combined with the loft adjust, it should be enough. Going to too soft a tip will bring on issues with directional control.

One more question, if you will, For some reason I can manage to drive the ball as far as some of my playing partners but when it come to irons I am either 1-2 clubs behind. I play to scratch from the white tee but more like 3-5 from blues. Just seem to be hitting too long of club in to really dial in. Would a weakened loft with a softer tip pick my flight and possibly yardage up? Thanks for all the information.

I have a opposite problem.

I am currently playing bridgestone j33 cb in s300.

I have lost 1 club length on all my irons with incredible high ball flight.

My 4 iron travels 200 yards with really high ball flight and just drop (only 3 feet roll out).

5 iron 185 with the ball resting near the divot.

6 iron 170 with the ball backing up 2 feet.

 

Everyone I regularly play with can't believe the height on these shots.

I have checked the lofts on the club. I have really nice divot about 4-5 inches long.

i was going to comment on your lack of distance with the 8 iron... chances are you are adding loft at impact, ie. you need to lean the club towards the target at impact... it also could be from the blades, i tend to hit blades 1 club shorter than player's cb's

This is hard to say online....you need to get with someone with a launch monitor to see which direction you need to go. If your iron swing is 'punchy' and you hit low boring shots, then the loft/shaft change will help....not as much as a slight setup or mechanical change but it may help minimize those changes.

It sounds like the clubhead is a bit passed your hands at impact. First thing I'd try is to move ball position a couple balls back in your stance. It also sounds that your shaft flex may be a bit too soft. Those are pretty good distances for S300 and if they are short for you, then something firmer may be in order. All depends on how efficient and on-plane your swing is, your tempo and your swingspeed.
