I have a couple questions:

1) When someone is on here talking about "tour issued" irons (in the classifieds for example), what do they really mean. Is there a difference from the factory irons? I know that they obviously are more precise when it comes to measurements, but anyone can get fit properly and have their specs measured correctly. Other than maybe the "tc" on the shaft, whats the difference.

2) Also, was wondering if:
a) The Titleist 660's that I have seen on here are being released to the public
b) When will they be? The usual answer of "spring" or is there a set date
c) Will I see "tour issued" sets of these on here for sale (I am relatively new and was wondering if new irons by Titleist come on this site that are tour issued.)

I'ld like to add a few comments from what JC already said here:

 

JC Pretty much answer your 1st question. They obviously varies from one OEM to another and a lot of times they came out w/ a lot of variation of tour issue ( just like the 300 forged ).

 

Tour Iron more precise? Maybe, maybe not! it's all depends who worked on them before. Most tour players know what they want and ask the tour van guy or tour dept guy to build it to his spec. When it comes to a new stuff, Most tour players just pick a few of them and test it out and keep the one he like and return the rest. Of course the very top rank players for each OEM will got a special treatment. At the end what you see and what you hear out there is all come down to a business strategy from the OEMs or at least big part of it.

 

You need to read, learn and do some research from the forums and learn from the right reputable guy. The more time you spend here, the more you'll learn who and who and what is right and wrong.

 

The other question that i can answer here is your 2c question:

 

Maybe! You'll never know. So far I don't see any of 660 on sale yet. Again, do some research, you'll learn more and more everyday for sure.

 

I know we can't answer your questions to your satisfaction, but i hope you understand that your questions are to global and hard to answer it in detail version.
