No Bridgestone J33R 460 Love

Recommended Posts

Not many tour players use the Bridgestone J33R Driver
I don't understand why tour players, expecially Bridgestone Staffers, use the J33R Driver? I know Couples uses it and Appleby uses the smaller headed one, but other's like Will Mckenzie dont use it. You see all the time ping staffers using Taylormade drivers, or Mizuno staffers using Titleists drivers, but never the J33R. IMO, it is one of the best drivers out there when it comes to feel, spin, and launch angle. It may not have the hottest face or whatever, but aren't tour players usually concerned about feel. Maybe I'm alone in this one....

I have a few friends that are club pro's on staff with Bridgestone and love the driver. Now they have both went to TM. I believe it's who ever pays!

Yea, that does look like an Adams. It is nice that Bridgestone lets CHIII choose whatever brand driver he wants.

Taylormade has to shell out big bucks every year bc there are a whole lot of TM drivers on tour. Honestly, i haven't hit a TM driver I liked since the R510TP. Still need to try the new tour burner though...heard it was the real deal.

As you can see Stuart Appleby is playing the J36R 460 Bridgestone Golf Driver. When I proved it seems to be an old club with a heavy face, the sound it's very different than the actual 460cc drivers, but it works very easy and long, with a very classic shape.

Actually, Bridgestone players signs with them for his:

1) Ball

2) Irons

3) Bag

4) Gloves

I think there's just one player who is using only Bridgestone... Couples is using TM wedges, TM 510driver, proto BG clubs (never seen in a retail), CHIII Adams driver, Snedekeer TM irons, etc, etc.

We have to wait a little so see the newest this summer...

Actually, Couples IS using the Bridgestone J33R 460 Driver as of now...at least as of the Masters. I think he uses Cleveland Wedges as well...not sure about that.

The BS driver is a great driver when you hit it on the screws, just as long in distance as everything else on the market. Problem is forgiveness, there really is none with this head. Also finding the right shaft is a key issue with this driver more than some others.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I LOVED my J33's (I started with a 420, then had 2 460's), and it's a superb driver when your swing is on. But the forgivness factor finally convinced me to sell them. I wanted to love this driver, but my swing just isn't consistent enough for it.

I picked up the 460 last week. I am surprised that it is as easy to hit as it is. It will punish a bad swing, but it is very easy to hit a variety of shots. I carry 2 drivers, the BS generally to hit low piercing shots and a Nickent to hit high, so at least one of them will be working most days. What surprised me is that the BS is as long as the Nickent and I don't have to wear earplugs.

Apples still plays the old J33 P - pear shaped, 375cc - high launching high spinning.
